With over 25 years of experience in journalism, media management, public relations, and social work, Kabita Dilawar (also known as Shahnaz Hossain) has built a distinguished career defined by impactful storytelling, dynamic leadership, and a deep commitment to societal betterment. Her journey began with a passion for uncovering stories that matter and evolved into a multifaceted role blending strategic leadership, innovative content creation, and a steadfast dedication to journalistic integrity.
Kabita’s career in journalism spans more than two decades, during which she held leadership positions at Doinik Bangla Publications; Anondo Bichitra, and Bichitra, the two of the most prominent magazines in Bangladesh. She played a pivotal role in shaping narratives, mentoring journalists, and conducting thought-provoking interviews on critical societal and entertainment issues.
After relocating to the United States, Kabita continued her work as an independent columnist and contributor for notable Bangladeshi publications in New York, including The Thikana and Bangla Patrika. In 2014, she launched “Global Bangladesh”, a publication dedicated to promoting Bangladeshi products and services to a global audience. In 2022, she started her own social media platform, Kabitar Shathe, where she engages individuals from all walks of life in discussions on pressing topics such as mental health, governance, elections, and domestic violence. Through these initiatives, Kabita has consistently elevated public discourse and brought attention to urgent societal concerns.
Beyond her contributions to media, Kabita is deeply committed to social change and community development. She works actively with organizations like the Afsirer Nessa Memorial Foundation (ANMF), LoveShare BD, and the Brighter Tomorrow Foundation to champion education, skill development, mental health awareness, and human rights for underserved communities.
